On Yellow, Brightly

If you know me, you know that my wardrobe consists of all things black. Sometimes, I’ll go navy, but mostly, everything I own has black somewhere on it. My motto used to be, “If you can’t wear it with black, why are you wearing it?”

I’ve been trying to break with the black. Seriously trying – I now have enough whites to actually do a (very small) whites load! It’s amazing!

But, in realizing that adding color to your wardrobe is a terrifying endeavor, I decided to start small. So I bought a yellow purse one day while I was out shopping.

This is not the most flattering picture but this is the purse! I googled around, trying to find an image, and found it on eBay – here’s the link so you don’t think I’m a total image thief. I love this purse. It’s amazing. It has a zip closure but also a snap to prevent theft and increase storage potential.

I am one of those people who buys a purse and then uses it constantly until it wears out. I’m not the type to switch my handbags on a daily basis (I carry around so much stuff, it’d be a huge chore), so I need a purse that goes with everything. I have been using this since I bought it in March. It’s been with me to Chicago, New York, Vegas, and of course, all over Denver.

I love this purse, and it’s starting to make me love yellow.

I found myself in the store the other day asking the saleslady if they had any colors of yellow nail polish, that’s how much I love it now. But not just any yellow. That deep school bus yellow. FYI – don’t try to buy yellow nail polish. Most yellows are that sad, fake banana color that will make you feel like you’re in an androgynous nursery (not a bad yellow, just not the yellow I want to rock on my nails).

Aunt Sally, I’ll never forget that your favorite color is yellow because when I was little, I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that someone would like yellow. I hated the color. I distinctly remember announcing (on more than one occasion) that yellow was my least favorite color. You are so right, yellow is amazing.
