My mom and I are about to embark on a road trip from Denver to Rapid City, South Dakota to see my birth mom get married!

I’m excited. I love road trips. 

I’m less thrilled about the prospect of spending 7 hours in the car with my mom. (Mostly kidding, but her aversion to high speeds, loud music, and windows down dampens my excitement a bit.)

She wants to see Mt. Rushmore while we’re there. I want to take her to Cosmos Mystery Area. (I hope it’s not like Casa Bonita, where if you go as an adult, all of your childhood memories of huge cliffs and terrifying caves will be ruined forever once you realize it’s just a tiny pool and a dark hole in a room.)
